Medieval Day at Celje Castle
Inspired by the Middle Ages, real epics, medieval masters, and knightly adventures, we will create bold and exciting performances. This time, it’s not just about sword fighting and games. Acrobats and jugglers will entertain you, and during the famous knightly tournament, you’ll be breathless. All this in a truly medieval and entertaining atmosphere.
For the first time in Slovenia, we’ll stage an unusual game of chess: a combination of historical sword fighting and theater in vintage costumes. The epic program will feature more than 35 performers, who will bring the thrilling battle of two minds to a large chessboard. Dramatic twists, depicted with live figures, exciting battles, music, and beautiful costumes.
On Medieval Day, the story of young Barbara of Celje will come to life for the first time – step into her world of dreams of a royal future and experience how her indomitable will was forged amidst the splendor of the Celje family.
We host the best medieval societies that will authentically and attractively create a medieval atmosphere: dances, costumes, weapons, and customs will transport you back to the time of the Counts of Celje. To a time when the sound of swords echoed through the castle, ladies in refined clothes danced to the music of court musicians, and knights competed in heroic games for honor and glory.

– Adults: 10 EUR
– Children (6–15): 5 EUR
– Children under 6: Free
– Family ticket (2 adults and children): 23 EUR
Each visitor will also receive a flag with their ticket.
Annual tickets are not valid on the day of the event. Tickets do not include consumption at Café Veronika.
